Product Overview:

Blue Water Armada Original Satin Wood Finish (MA017Q) is a unique high performance synthetic finish designed for interior and exterior wood including teak. A superb alternative to wood oils, sealers, stain and varnish.

Armada Wood Finishes contain synthetic transparent iron oxide pigments, which shield the wood against UV sunlight. This effectively protects the wood’s lining, a key component in its strength, which is degraded by exposure to UV.

Armada Original Satin Wood Finish has excellent weathering properties and most importantly is flexible. This flexible characteristic means that its protective shell is very resistant to impact damage and abrasion, and allows for natural expansion and contraction of wood.

No sanding required between coats. Easy to apply, quick drying, superb flow and leveling. Dries flexible allowing for wood to expand and contract as well as to breathe for moisture to escape.

Normally applied with a quality China bristle badger-type brush.

General Application: Do not apply if wood is hot to the touch. Apply when air temperature is between 50 F and 95 F. Stir well before is dry, clean, free of sanding residue and cleaning agents. Apply liberally with the grain using a natural bristle brush. Apply a minimum of three coats. Sanding between coats is unnecessary, however if sanding is done, add an additional coat to build the film thickness to the equivalent of three unsanded coats. Do not re-coat until the surface is thoroughly dry, and not before 24 hours. If applying indoors, open windows and doors or use fan to provide air circulation and ventilation.

New or Bare Wood: Sand to desired smoothness with 120 to 220 grit sandpaper. For oily wood, such as teak, wipe surface with acetone to remove surface oils. If acetone raises fine hairs in the wood, sand lightly again with 400 grit sandpaper. Ensure surface is dry and completely free of sanding residue.

Previously Coated Wood: Remove previous coating (except Armada Wood Finish) by sanding or by using a marine stripper. Follow sanding and acetone use directions for New or Bare Wood above.

Weathered Wood: Clean with teak cleaner to brighten or to remove mildew and then follow with a brightener if needed. Do not use a stiff bristle brush. Brush across the grain or in a circular motion to avoid removing soft portions of the teak. Flush thoroughly with fresh water when finished. Follow sanding and acetone use directions for New Wood or Bare above.
