Product Description

Epifanes Rubbed Effect Satin Finish Interior Varnish 500ml (RE.500) is a quick‑drying, scratch‑resistant, one‑component interior varnish based on urethane‑alkyd resins. It produces a warm, hand‑rubbed satin sheen and offers excellent resistance to alcohol, household chemicals, scuffing, and abrasion.

Rubbed Effect Varnish is ideal as a satin topcoat in a new varnish system or as a maintenance satin finish over existing varnish. It can be applied over virtually any interior varnish system. For bare wood, always begin with several high‑gloss build coats of a compatible varnish to fill the grain and provide UV protection.

Highly recommended for cabin soles, interior trim, doors, bulkheads, and other interior wood surfaces requiring a durable satin finish.

Available in 500ml and 1000ml size containers. Download Technical Data Sheet here.

SMSDistributors Expert Notes

  • For bare wood, always build up with varnish base coats first. Satin finishes should never be used as base coats on bare wood, or you will get an uneven result.
  • Great for cabin soles. Rubbed Effect is one of the most durable interior satin finishes available.
  • Quick drying. Ideal for interior projects where turnaround time matters.
  • Avoid wet‑on‑wet. This varnish must dry fully between coats.
  • Spray friendly. Excellent flow‑out when thinned properly.
  • Warm satin tone. Adds a rich amber warmth to interior woodwork.
  • Sand lightly. 320G by hand or non-woven scuff pad is ideal between coats.
