Epifanes Woodfinish Gloss 1000ml (1L) (WFG.1000) is a one‑component, high‑gloss varnish alternative formulated for oily, resinous tropical hardwoods such as teak and iroko but safe for all wood types. It delivers exceptional clarity, deep gloss, and outstanding UV protection while offering a major labor‑saving advantage: no sanding is required between coats when recoated within 72 hours.
Woodfinish Gloss features unique flow characteristics, high build capacity, and excellent flexibility. Its oil‑based formulation includes phenolic resin, alkyd resin, tung oil, and UV filters. These components provide superior adhesion to oily woods, prevent cracking on working timber, and allow the coating to “breathe,” reducing the risk of dark spots beneath the finish.
Ideal for new woodwork or maintenance of intact existing varnish systems (one‑ or two‑component), Woodfinish Gloss is suitable for interior and exterior use above the waterline. It is also recommended as a sealer or filler for wood due to its strong penetrating ability.
Reduce with Epifanes Brush Thinner or Epifanes Spray Thinner if necessary.

Application Conditions
- Temperature: 47–86°F
- Humidity: 50–85%
- Best applied with a long‑haired soft brush or spray
- Roller application not advised due to required wet film thickness
- Avoid direct sunlight, wind, or rapid solvent loss
- Do not apply wet‑on‑wet
- If product “pulls,” thin up to 10%
Surface Preparation
Bare wood: Degrease thoroughly with Epifanes Spray Thinner or denatured alcohol. Sand 60–80 grit, then 100–120 grit. For oily woods, finish sand to 220 grit.
Maintenance: Degrease and sand 220–320 grit. Thin first coat 10% for improved grip.

- Woodfinish Gloss is the best choice for oily tropical hardwoods. Its phenolic/alkyd/tung oil base bonds exceptionally well to teak and iroko.
- No sanding between coats saves major labor time. Recoat within 72 hours for a flawless build.
- Hand sanding for a smoother, flatter finish between coats only if desired. A light hand sand with a 320-400 grit abrasive of scuff pad is acceptable, machine sanding not recommended. Vacuum off dust and wipe surface with a mild solvent such as Epifanes 1-Part Thinner for Paint & Varnish or denatured alcohol before recoating.
