Evercoat Rage® OPTEX™ Premium Filler, Gallon, Plus Hardener (100135) features color-changing technology and is an ultra-premium body filler that helps body shops save time and money on every repair.

There’s no second guessing - once mixed with cream hardener, OPTEX changes color to green to indicate when the repair is ready to sand.

Formulated with Evercoat’s patented ECORESIN™ technology, OPTEX offers superior adhesion to a broad range of substrates and unparalleled sanding properties. OPTEX is also part of the METALWORKS® System that guarantees the repair to maintain the O.E.M. corrosion warranty on original factory corrosion protected sheet metal and galvanized sheet metal when used in accordance with the application instructions.

Available in 1 gallon size container containing 0.8 gallons (3L) of product, hardener included.

Preparation

Clean and degrease the entire panel using soap and water, followed by a mild cleaning solvent. Ensure the surface is completely dry before applying filler.
Keep the repair area small for best results.
Use 80–180 grit to remove paint and featheredge the repair area.
For smaller repairs on OEM paint, Evercoat notes that 180 grit preparation is acceptable.

Mixing

Stir Rage® OPTEX™ thoroughly before use.
Knead the Evercoat Cream Hardener to ensure uniform consistency.
Add hardener at 2% by weight — apply a ribbon of cream hardener from edge to edge across the center of a 4" diameter puddle.
Puddles larger than 4" (10 cm) will require additional hardener.
Mix thoroughly until a uniform color is achieved.

Application

Apply Rage® OPTEX™ in layers using firm, even pressure.
Do not apply all at once — build the repair gradually for best strength and stability.
The filler will transition from pink to a light gray‑green as it cures, indicating the repair is dry and ready to sand.
Rage® OPTEX™ can be applied directly to properly sanded OEM clearcoat.

Finishing

Sand the filler with 80–180 grit sandpaper.
If needed, re‑apply filler to address pinholes or low spots, allow to dry, then sand again with 180 grit.
Finish sand with 180 grit for a smooth, uniform surface.
Allow a minimum of 20 minutes sanding time when working over silicon bronze welds.
For optimum performance, Evercoat recommends applying 440 Express™ before primer surfacer.
