Product Overview:

Surf-ACE Marine M-12 & M-40 Gelcoat, Fiberglass & Paint Surface Restoration Kit (M-60000US) is the ultimate correction combo, designed for use on gelcoat, fiberglass and painted surfaces to quickly and easily remove surface imperfections, deep scratches and heavy oxidation and leaves a deep, high gloss, mirror-like finish.

Surf-ACE Marine M-12 Heavy Cut Marine Compound is designed for use on gelcoat, fiberglass and painted surfaces to quickly and easily remove surface imperfections, deep scratches and heavy oxidation and leaves a deep, high gloss, mirror-like finish.

Surf-ACE Marine M-40 Ultra-Fine Marine Compound is a professional polish designed to remove light oxidation, scratches, holograms and swirl-marks on gelcoat, fiberglass and painted surfaces while delivering the highest gloss level attainable, particularly on darker color surfaces. M-40 is typically used as a second step after M-12 on darker colors but may also be used as a single polishing step on surfaces for light defect correction and to deliver deep, high-gloss in the fastest time possible

Surf-ACE M-12 and M-40 contain no fillers, waxes or silicones and are paint shop approved.

Packaged in a kit containing one 100g (3.52 ounce) flip top plastic bottle of each Surf-ACE M-12 and M-40 compounds. Made in the UK.

Features and Benefits:

  • Heavy Cutting and Fast Acting - quickly and easily remove surface imperfections, deep scratches and heavy oxidation
  • Superior Final Finish - leaves a deep, high gloss, mirror-like finish
  • Versatile Surface Applications - use on gelcoat, fiberglass and all marine paints
  • DRA (Dynamic Response Abrasive) Technology - incorporates concentrated micro-precision abrasive oxides for increased cutting power and performance on gelcoat, fiberglass and harder lacquer finishes
  • Haze-free - water-based formula guarantees minimal dieback / hazing on dark colors
  • Paint Shop Approved - ammonia and silicone free and paintable

Surf-ACE Marine M-12 Heavy Cut Marine Compound:

Surf-ACE Marine M-12 is a professional product that works extremely fast to achieve unparalleled results in the shortest time possible. It is non-cosmetic, containing no fillers to hide scratches or imperfections that can show up later.

M-12 is a specially formulated compound which benefits from the world's first DRA (Dynamic Response Abrasive) Technology. DRA incorporates concentrated micro-precision abrasive oxides for increased cutting power and performance on gelcoat, fiberglass and harder lacquer finishes.

M-12 benefits from an improved lubrication system which can, if required, be worked for prolonged periods without drying out. The water-based formula guarantees minimal dieback / hazing on dark colors and offers quick and easy clean-up after application.

Paint shop approved, M-12 is ammonia and silicone free, and finish is paintable.

M-12 may be used with a rotary-type polisher for heavier correction or a DA-type polisher for less aggressive correction. Buff pad type will dictate how aggressive the compound works; use a twisted wool cutting pad (e.g. Surf-ACE Marine Super Buff Double-Sided Compounding Pad or similar) for heavier surface correction and removal of up to 800 grit scratch; use a softer buff pad (e.g. lambswool or foam) for less aggressive cutting action and a higher final gloss level.

Directions for M-12 Use:

  • Rotary Machine Speed - between 1,000 to 2,000 rpm
  • DA Machine Speed - between 2,000 to 4,000 rpm
  • Select appropriate buff pad for the particular application
  • Note: do not over apply or use excessive compound
  • Note: On soft or sensitive paint, or where heat build-up may be a problem, the addition of water mist will help to avoid any friction burn, particularly with new pads; however, avoid using unnecessary/excessive water
  • Note: Once a new pad is activated with water, no additional water needs to be used once the pad has been saturated with product
  1. Apply M-12 in small quantities to the pad or paint surface (excessive product use is not beneficial and wasteful)
  2. Work the surface applying medium pressure until the scratches and imperfections are removed
  3. Reduce pressure as the mop starts to move freely to allow polishing action to take place
  4. After compounding, remove any residual and buff surface with a clean cloth
  5. For swirl mark removal and gloss enhancement, particularly on darker colors, follow with Surf-ACE M-40 Ultra-Fine Maine Compound using a soft buff pad

Surf-ACE Marine M-40 Ultra-Fine Marine Polish:

Surf-ACE Marine M-40 is a professional polish designed to remove light oxidation, scratches, holograms and swirl-marks on gelcoat, fiberglass and painted surfaces while delivering the highest gloss level attainable, particularly on darker color surfaces.

M-40 is traditionally used as a second polishing step in a process following Surf-ACE M-12 Heavy Cut Marine Compound, where heavier oxidation, scratches or sanding scratches have been removed, to deliver optimal gloss and removal of holograms / swirl-marks left from previous polishing steps.

M-40 may also be used as a single polishing step on surfaces for light defect correction and to deliver deep, high-gloss in the fastest time possible.

M-40 is highly recommended to correct problem dark color paint and gelcoat surfaces.

M-40 is a specially formulated ultra-fine compound which benefits from the world's first DRA (Dynamic Response Abrasive) Technology. DRA incorporates concentrated micro-precision abrasive oxides for increased cutting power and performance on gelcoat, fiberglass and harder lacquer finishes. M-40 is non-cosmetic, containing no fillers to hide scratches or imperfections that can show up later.

Fast and easy to use, M-40 can be used with both rotary and random orbital polishing tools with soft finishing/polishing black foam or lambswool buff pads.

Directions for M-40 Use:

  • Rotary Machine Speed - between 1,000 to 2,000 rpm (free running) with soft lambswool or polishing black foam buff pads
  • DA Machine Speed - between 2,000 to 8,000 rpm
  • Select appropriate buff pad for the particular application
  • Note: do not over apply or use excessive compound
  1. Apply M-40 in small quantities to the pad or paint surface in thin even layers (excessive product use is not beneficial and wasteful)
  2. Using the machine, polish up paint surface reducing the pressure as the film starts to clear
  3. Continue to float the surface with un-pressured pad and when clear finally remove any trace residues using microfiber polishing cloth
