Product Overview:
Norton BlueFire R822 ZA Flap Disc 4.5" x 7/8", Fiberglass Hub, Flat T27 Shape is a high-performance zirconia alumina plus abrasive that extends the life of the disc up to 30 percent and provides a consistent cut during coarse grit blending, deburring and stock removal.
The jumbo semi-open flaps reduce loading when used on soft metals and the fiberglass resin backing plate absorb vibrations, improving operator comfort.
The tough yet lightweight fiberglass and resin backing plates enhance comfort during operation by absorbing vibration. Type 27 flat flap disc are designed to be used at a 0-to-15-degree angle on flat surfaces for blending and smooth finishing.
Operate your right-angle grinder efficiently with the lightweight and durable Blue Fire R884P coarse grit center mount plastic heavy duty flat flap disc.
Pair the Metal R828 coarse grit center mount fiberglass flat flap disc with a right-angle grinder to handle stock removal, deburring and coarse grit blending on a variety of metal surfaces, including 300 and 400 series stainless, aluminum, brass, bronze, cast iron, soft carbon steels, super alloys and titanium.
Size of these discs are 4.5" diameter with 7/8" hole, Type 27 Flat, Zirconia Alumina plus grain. Max RPM 13,300. Available in grits P36, P40, P60, P80.
Use the coarse P40 grit for stock removal, beveling and edge chamfering.

Features and Benefits:
- Type 27 flat flap disc with high-performance zirconia alumina plus abrasive provides excellent cut and up to 30% longer life than competitive zirconia alumina products
- Smooth running, high density/jumbo semi-open flaps improve life, minimize loading on soft metals, and make these act like finer grits
- Their fiberglass/resin backing plates are the most popular plate configuration due to high strength, light weight, ability to absorb vibration, and operator comfort
- Excellent choice for coarse grit blending, deburring, and stock removal
- Coarse 40 grit for stock removal, beveling and edge chamfering
- High-density - jumbo flaps - discs are the choice when working on uneven or curved surfaces, as well as finer-grit blending
Why Choose Flap Discs?
Flap discs replace both grinding wheels and fiber discs. The same flap disc can be used for applications ranging from stock removal to blending.
Flap Discs vs. Grinding Wheels
- Faster stock removal
- Smoother finish, no gouging
- Cooler cutting, less glazing
- Lightweight, easier to control
- Less vibration, less operator fatigue
- Reduced noise
Flap Discs vs. Fiber Discs
- 20X longer life, reduced abrasive cost
- Fewer disc changes, reduced labor cost
- More consistent finish
- No back-up pad required
- Easier storage, no curling
- Reduced loading
- Use flap discs one grit size coarser than fiber discs, except in 36 grit
