Epifanes Slow Reducer for Poly-Urethane, Brushing, 1000ml, PUSR.1000
Product Description:
Epifanes Slow Reducer for Polyurethane, Brushing (PUSR.1000) is a special extra slow evaporating thinner to help improve flow and leveling for Epifanes polyurethane 2-part finishes including Epifanes Poly-urethane Yacht Coatings, Epifanes Poly-urethane Clear Gloss Varnish and Epifanes Poly-urethane Clear Satin Varnish.
Its primary purpose is to control the "open-time" of the paint, which is helpful for achieving a professional, high-gloss finish.
Designed for brushing and rolling applications.
Note: Polyurethane thinners and reducers should only be added to paint 10-15 minutes after mixing the Part A and Part B together; the paint needs time to pre-react before being reduced.
Available in 1L size container.
Features and Benefits:
- Improves Flow and Leveling: By slowing down the evaporation rate of the solvents, it allows the paint to stay "wet" longer. This gives the paint more time to flow out and level itself, which helps eliminate brush marks, roller stipple, or "orange peel" textures.
- Ideal for Brushing and Rolling: While standard thinners might evaporate too quickly, especially in the warmer temperatures, the Slow Reducer is specifically formulated to make large surfaces easier to manage with a brush or roller.
- Maintains "Wet Edge": When painting a large hull or deck, the biggest challenge is maintaining a wet edge so that the new stroke blends seamlessly with the previous one. The Slow Reducer prevents the paint from "skinning over" too fast, reducing the risk of visible lap marks.
- Temperature Management: It is the go-to additive when working in hot environments (typically above 75–80°F) or high-airflow conditions where standard thinners would cause the paint to drag or dry mid-stroke.
