Drain water after 24 hours and rinse the sail thoroughly. Repeat the process if deemed necessary. Dry sail completely before storing away.
Usage Tips:
For best results, sails should not be too tightly wrapped or bunched up when soaking. 1lb of Sail Wash is recommended for every 10-15 gallons of water. 4lb’s of Sail Wash is the proper amount for the majority of the sails and 60-75 gallons of water is ideal. If you are washing a Sunfish or Windsurfer sail then 2LB’s of Sail Wash and 20-30 gallons of water will be fine. For exceptionally large sails, a larger container, more water and more Sail Wash will be needed. Two treatments may be required for sails in bad shape.
The size of the container used to wash sails influences the amount of product needed. For reference:
- Bath tub = the average US bath tub holds 60 gallons of water
- Trash barrel = common trash barrels holds 32 gallons of water
- Kids pool = 4-6ft diameter kids pool with 10” sides holds 100 gallons of water
- Whirlpool tub = small whirlpool tub holds 75 gallons of water; a large one holds 100 gallons; whirlpools provided exceptional results
