Product Description
Epifanes Woodfinish Matte 50ml (WFM.500) provides a rich low‑gloss matte finish with a clear amber tone and a hand‑rubbed appearance. It is suitable for both interior and exterior woods, especially teak and other fine hardwoods.
Woodfinish Matte varnish alternative offers a major labor‑saving advantage: no sanding is required between coats when recoated within 72 hours. This makes it an excellent alternative to traditional varnish systems, especially for multi‑coat applications.
For best appearance, apply Woodfinish Matte over several coats of Epifanes Gloss Varnish, Epifanes Woodfinish Gloss, or Epifanes Polyurethane Clear Gloss.
Made from phenolic‑modified alkyd resins, tung oil, and UV absorbers, Woodfinish Matte provides excellent flow, durability, scratch resistance, and long‑term weather protection.
Thin as needed with Epifanes Brush Thinner or Epifanes Spray Thinner.

Surface Preparation
Bare wood: Degrease with Epifanes Spray Thinner or denatured alcohol. Sand 60–80 grit, then 100–120 grit. For oily woods, finish sand to 220 grit.
Maintenance: Degrease and sand existing finish with 220–320 grit. Thin first coat 10% for improved adhesion.
Application Notes
- Best applied with a long‑haired soft brush or spray
- Roller application not advised due to required wet film thickness
- Avoid retipping and excessive wet film thickness
- Do not apply wet‑on‑wet
- If product “pulls,” thin up to 10%
