Surface Prep and Application Info:
Oily resinous tropical wood like teak, contains substances that may cause problems during and after finishing. i.e. slow drying or poor adhesion. These problems may be overcome by thorough and correct preparation and by the correct use of this product. Ensure that the wood is dry. Degrease the wood thoroughly with Epifanes Spray Thinner For Paint & Varnish or denatured alcohol. Do not use water. Sand the bare wood to a fresh surface with 60 - 80 grit dry abrasive paper with the grain of the wood. A block may be used to assist in fairing the surface. Finish sand with 100 - 120 grit dry abrasive paper. For oily woods, finish sand to 220 grit dry abrasive paper. Brush application with a good quality, clean, natural bristle brush will give good results. Try an Epifanes brush for the ultimate varnishing experience.
Maintenance Info:
If the existing coats of Wood Finish gloss are intact and only a degrease of gloss is noticed, one or more coats may be applied on a well cleaned, degreased and sanded surface. Prepare the surface with 320 grit wet or dry abrasive paper. For the annual maintenance of Wood Finish Gloss over non-oily woods, apply a minimum of one or two coats, on a well cleaned, degreased and sanded surface.
