Product Overview:

MAS 2:1 FLAG Epoxy Resin non-blushing formula is a medium viscosity epoxy resin for Filleting, Laminating and Gluing.

FLAG's medium viscosity specifically designed to perform as an adhesive and structural laminating foundation. FLAG's medium viscosity allows for it to be used unfilled or with the incorporation of fillers when fairing putties, gluing slurries and filleting systems. Thicker formula resist sagging in vertical applications, yet still allows quick wet-outs of light to medium weight fabrics.

FLAG resin is highly recommended for general purpose gluing applications where wet-out of fiberglass is not a consideration and for all your filleting and fairing needs.

MAS FLAG is more reactive than MAS Low Viscosity (LV) Epoxy Resin when mixed with MAS Medium Hardener; this keeps fillets and fairing from slumping. FLAG Epoxy Resin is sandable next day when cured at 60°F and higher with MAS Medium Hardener.

FLAG Epoxy Resin may be used with all MAS non-blushing 2:1 hardeners (FastMedium and Slow), however, for filled applications MAS Medium Hardener is recommended.

Features & Benefits:

  • Advanced non-blushing formula saves time
  • Thick formula helps resist sagging in vertical applications
  • Use for filleting, laminating and gluing nearly all materials
  • Mix with variety of fillers to create custom filling, fairing and gluing compounds
  • Excellent moisture exclusion
  • 100% reactive, 0% solvent and less than 1% shrinkage
  • Use with your choice of MAS Hardeners (FastMedium and Slow)
  • Available in quart, gallon and 4 gallon containers

Application Suggestions:

  • Filleting
  • Laminating
  • Gluing & Bonding

When simply coating, sealing or saturating wood with epoxy, do not add thickening powders.

For laminating applications, consider MAS Low-Viscosity (LV) Epoxy Resin and MAS Non-Blushing Slow Hardener.

For filling applications, consider MAS FLAG Medium Epoxy Resin.

It is important to mix epoxy and hardener thoroughly before adding thickener.

Often two fillers used in conjunction are more effective than any single filler used alone; this can be attributed to the synergistic effects found when two different particle sizes are blended together.

When filling gaps or making a fillet (pronounced "fill-its") add sufficient wood flour to make a peanut butter consistency.

Colloidal Silica (aka Cab-O-Sil) and other white fillers may be added to make the wood flour paste match the color of the plywood exactly. Adding some Phenolic Micro Balloons or Colloidal Silica (no more than 30 percent by volume) has the added benefit of making wood flour fillets smoother and easier to spread.

When using epoxy as an adhesive (i.e., bonding wood to wood), add enough silica powder to the resin-hardener mix to bring it to the consistency of mayonnaise or jam.
